Faster and more comfortable than braces

Invisalign straightens teeth faster than braces do and are more comfortable as well. Unlike braces, they can be removed at meal times and when brushing teeth.

How Does Invisalign work

Invisalign treatment starts with your dentist determining it is the best course of action for you. To start, they will take a 3D scan of your mouth to get customised trays created for you.

Each tray is usually worn for about two weeks, moving the teeth slightly into their desired position by applying the required amount of pressure to the correct spot on each tooth before getting replaced by the next tray.

Your dentist will schedule frequent in-patient appointments with you and monitor the movement of your teeth, ensuring they are aligning the way they are supposed to.

Which is better: Invisalign or braces?

Each malocclusion case is different, requiring a customised treatment plan. However, there are key differences between the two that can help determine which option is better for you.

Invisalign trays are removable and replaceable, which makes it easy to maintain oral hygiene and the appliance itself, while braces are fixed for the duration of the treatment, therefore are hard to clean around.

Invisalign is almost invisible, while braces, especially metal, can be unsightly. Furthermore, Invisalign trays can be removed while eating or for other short durations, but braces can’t be as they are fixed..

Frequently asked Questions

How much does Invisalign Bella Vista cost?

Invisalign cost around Bella Vista can start from $3500, with the final cost of the treatment depending on the

  • complexity of your case
  • duration of the treatment
  • skill and experience of your dental team
  • where you live
  • your oral health
  • refinement required for successive trays

Is Invisalign more expensive than traditional braces?

Invisalign can cost more than braces made of metal or ceramic because they are custom-made aligners that are created especially for you in a specialised dental lab.

Is Invisalign more painful than traditional metal braces?

Invisalign aligners are considered less painful than the more traditional braces as patients usually only report mild discomfort, which is treatable with over-the-counter painkillers.
The majority of people choosing Invisalign said they got used to wearing the clear trays within a few days.

Can I find affordable Invisalign treatment?

Many dentists around Bella Vista offer a free initial consultation as well as flexible payment plans for Invisalign treatments.
Speak to your dental team honestly about upfront costs and special offers. Furthermore, having good oral hygiene ensures there are no pre-alignment treatments that need to be done.

Is Invisalign covered by insurance?

Invisalign clear aligners are considered cosmetic dentistry and are not covered by dental insurance.

What are the requirements for Invisalign treatments?

You can get straighter teeth with Invisalign if you fulfil the following conditions:

  • you don't have severe malocclusion
  • you have all permanent teeth
  • you are responsible enough to wear them for 22 hours daily
  • you go for all follow-up appointments
  • you don't smoke
  • you don't have tooth decay

Is Invisalign the same as traditional braces?

Invisalign clear trays are not the same as traditional braces. They are removable and replaceable invisible plastic trays that fit over teeth to straighten them in a shorter time than braces.

How do I get started with Invisalign treatment?

If you want to straighten your teeth, the first step will be a consultation with your dentist, who will examine your mouth to make sure you have healthy teeth.

How often do I need to wear my Invisalign aligners?

You will need to wear the clear aligners for around 22 hours a day, removing them only to eat and clean your teeth and the trays.

Can I eat with my Invisalign aligners on?

You will need to remove the trays at mealtimes. Wearing clear aligners while eating can damage and discolour them, make them dirty and hamper chewing.
Make sure you clean your teeth well before placing the trays back on. Food particles and other debris trapped between the aligners and your teeth will not only cause discolouration but also allow bacteria to grow on your teeth's surface.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign clear trays are easy to clean. Use a mild, uncoloured liquid soap and a soft-bristled brush to gently clean the plastic. Make sure the brush you use to clean your Invisalign trays is not used for anything else.

Is Invisalign an orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with straightening teeth and moving them around the jaw, so they align perfectly. Therefore, Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment.

What are the different types of orthodontic treatments?

There are four main types of orthodontic treatments:

  • fixed braces which are cemented onto teeth at the start of the treatment and removed once it ends. They move teeth with pressure applied by wires or bands.
  • removable braces are plastic plates that lay against the roof of the mouth and clip onto a few teeth to align just a few teeth and not the whole mouth.
  • functional appliances, which are connected or separate plastic braces which fit over teeth and bring them into place.
  • head gears are not exactly appliances used in orthodontics but are used in tandem with braces to realign the jaw.

What happens when Invisalign treatment is over?

Once your teeth have been brought into the desired positions, your dental team will discontinue the clear trays treatment, but you will be given a retainer to wear for a certain number of hours every day; most people choose to do so at night when they are sleeping, so the retainers don't disrupt their routine.

Retainers are recommended post any braces treatment because the gum tissues are still elastic and will pull back to their original position if not retained in place, undoing the realignment of the teeth.
