What are the different dental services Dr Jack provides?
Dr Jack Yang provides a comprehensive range of treatments through the following services:
- general dentistry
- cosmetic dentistry
- restorative dentistry
- emergency dentistry
What is general dentistry?
General dentistry is the management of your dental health. It involves preventative care to maintain healthy teeth and gums and early intervention procedures. General dentists are key sources of preventative education for good oral health.
What is orthodontics?
This form of dentistry focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of malocclusions. It focuses on diagnosing and treating “bad bites", i.e. teeth and jaws that are misaligned with the help of traditional metal or ceramic braces or clear trays. Dr Yang has had immense success using Invisalign to straighten teeth for a perfect smile that boosts confidence!
What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on the smile, making it more attractive through the process of teeth whitening and applying veneers to improve the colour, surface and shape of natural teeth. Cosmetic dentistry improves the shape, colour and surface of the teeth so people don't feel self-conscious while smiling.
What is restorative dentistry?
Restorative dentistry focuses on repairing damaged or missing teeth. A damaged or missing tooth can be replaced with a dental implant, while a bigger number of teeth can be replaced with removable dentures or permanent full-arch implants. If a tooth does not require complete replacement with a dental implant, a restorative dentist might try to fix the problem with root canals, crowns, and bridges.
What is emergency dentistry?
Experiencing sudden sharp pain in your tooth due to an abscess, gum disease or dislocation of previous dental treatments like fillings also constitutes a dental emergency. Being in an accident or experiencing trauma to the face can result in dental emergencies that require a visit to the dentist. Getting hit in the face by a hard object can fracture the jaw or teeth or break them altogether. Emergency dentistry could require cleaning out an abscess, tooth extraction and possibly dental implants in case of severe injuries.
What should I do if I have a dental emergency?
Dr Jack Yang has a dedicated number for his patients to call in case of dental emergencies outside of work hours which will connect you to his team. Depending on the emergency, you could be asked to manage the pain with painkillers till a consultation the next day or visit the dental practice for emergency treatment.
What is TMJ Disorder?
The temporal mandibular joint is a hinge-like joint that connects your jaw to the skull on each side. Pain or stiffness in the joint are symptoms of TMJ disorder.
Some causes of TMJ disorder could be
- jaw injury
Dr Jack Yang has successfully treated this condition in many patients, helping them gain back the full movement of their jaw and giving relief from associated discomfort.
What sort of head and neck pain does Dr Jack treat?
There is a surprising connection between head and neck pain and dentistry. Bruxism, TMJ and impacted wisdom teeth can cause the head and neck to hurt in what is called referred pain. Dr Jack identifies and treats the underlying cause of the pain and brings relief from head and neck pain.
What types of oral surgery does Dr Jack perform?
Dr Jack is skilled in performing oral surgery for tooth extraction, dental implants and removing impacted wisdom teeth.
What is the pinhole gum rejuvenation technique?
This technique was invented by Dr John Chao in the 1990s. It is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment to correct receding gums by inserting a special tool under the gum tissue and pulling it down over the exposed section of the teeth. Pinhole gum rejuvenation is a part of restorative dentistry.
What is family dentistry?
Family dentistry deals with the oral health of the entire family. From children to teens, adults and senior citizens, every age can visit a family dentist.
What is kids' dentistry?
Kids dentistry is the prevention and treatment of dental problems in young children. A kids’ dentist monitors and maintains the health of children's gums, teeth and mouth, so the risk of oral health conditions is reduced.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are custom-made replacements for natural teeth. They comprise three different parts:
- the implant -a titanium or zirconium screw fused within the jaw bone that acts like a real tooth's root
- the crown -a ceramic or porcelain shell that looks, feels and functions just like a real tooth does.
- the abutment - a connecting piece that fits the crown onto the implant. It is made of the same material as the implant.
Dental implants are the perfect solution for people who feel self-conscious while smiling or have difficulty chewing due to the gap in their teeth.
